In a moment of pride and accomplishment, Mehler Protection, a vital part of the Mehler Systems Group, celebrates the delivery of the 100,000th MOBAST protective vest system to Bekleidungsmanagement GmbH, the procurement arm for the German Federal Armed Forces. This milestone isn't just a number; it's a testament to our unwavering commitment to keeping our soldiers safe and prepared for whatever challenges they face.
The journey to this milestone began in April 2022 when the Federal Ministry of Defence entrusted us with the task of supplying 305,000 protective vest systems. With deliveries commencing in December 2022 from our newly established facility in Fulda, we hit the ground running, exceeding expectations by delivering over 4,000 systems in the first month alone. And now, just over a year later, we've reached the remarkable milestone of 100,000 systems delivered.
What makes the MOBAST program truly special is its innovative approach to protective gear. Short for "Modular Ballistic Protection and Carrying Equipment," these vests are more than just pieces of armor; they're adaptable, versatile, and designed to offer comprehensive protection to our soldiers. With both soft and hard ballistic protection covering critical areas like the shoulder, neck, upper arm, and thigh, along with additional stab protection, the MOBAST vests are a shield against evolving threats in today's complex world.
At Mehler Protection, we take pride in our European heritage and our role in preserving industrial capabilities in the region. From internal development and production to rigorous testing and quality assurance, every step of the process is handled with care and precision. And our collaboration with German and European suppliers and service providers ensures that we deliver nothing but the best to our armed forces.
Dr. Mario Amschlinger, our COO/CFO, spoke passionately about the advantages of the MOBAST protective vest system, highlighting its modularity and scalability. These features give our soldiers a crucial edge, allowing them to adapt quickly to changing mission requirements. And for Thomas Homberg, our CEO, customer satisfaction is paramount. The delivery of the 100,000th protective vest system is not just a milestone; it's a reaffirmation of our commitment to our customers and their safety.
Despite the challenges posed by global disruptions, we've remained steadfast in our commitment to meeting deadlines and exceeding expectations. Through close coordination with our clients and industry partners, we've navigated through turbulent times, ensuring that our soldiers receive the protection they need, when they need it.
In a heartfelt ceremony held on February 5, 2024, we had the honor of presenting the 100,000th MOBAST protective vest system to Vice Admiral Carsten Stawitzki and the Managing Directors of Bundeswehr Bekleidungsmanagement GmbH in Cologne. It was a moment of pride and gratitude, a celebration of our shared commitment to keeping our soldiers safe.
As we look ahead, we're more determined than ever to continue our mission of delivering safety and security to those who protect our nation. The MOBAST program is more than just a milestone; it's a symbol of our unwavering dedication to our soldiers and their well-being. And as long as there are threats to face, we'll be here, standing by their side, ready to protect and serve.
