In a groundbreaking development, EDGE, a global leader in advanced technology and defense, recently finalized a deal valued at approximately AED 0.6 billion for the sale of extended-range National Surface Anti-Ship Missiles (MANSUP-ER) to the Brazilian Navy. This significant agreement is the initial outcome of the collaboration between EDGE and the Brazilian Navy, initiated at the LAAD defense exhibition in Rio de Janeiro earlier this year. The collaboration aims to co-develop advanced long-range anti-ship missile technology as part of the MANSUP national anti-ship missile project.
The Letter of Intent (LOI) was officially signed at EDGE’s stand during the Dubai Airshow at Dubai World Central. Mansour AlMulla, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE Group, and Rear Admiral Marcelo Menezes Cardoso, Director of Navy Weapons Systems of the Brazilian Navy, were the signatories of this historic agreement.
Rear Admiral Marcelo Menezes Cardoso emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “Today marks a significant milestone in strengthening the partnership between the Brazilian Navy, SIATT, and EDGE, as we sign this letter of intent for the supply of our advanced MANSUP-ER anti-ship missiles. This collaboration is a testament to our joint commitment to innovation in the co-development of state-of-the-art defense technology to enhance our naval capabilities and safeguard our maritime interests.”
Mansour AlMulla, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE Group, underscored EDGE's commitment to becoming a major player in high-tech defense systems. He expressed confidence in the disruptive potential of the MANSUP-ER system, poised to challenge the dominance held by existing incumbent solutions.
The MANSUP-ER system, part of the National Anti-Ship Missile project, is co-developed with SIATT, a Brazilian Smart Weapons and High-Tech System specialist. With a 50% shareholding in SIATT, EDGE is at the forefront of developing advanced defense capabilities for the UAE Navy, the Brazilian Navy’s Frigate program, and international export.
Currently undergoing intensive testing by Brazil’s naval fleet, the MANSUP-ER system boasts adaptive sea-skimming capabilities, a range of 200 km, and is equipped with inertial guidance and active radar homing. EDGE is actively engaged in discussions with potential customers for this long-range surface-to-surface missile, heralding a new era in naval defense capabilities.
As MANSUP solutions continue to evolve, they are poised to be adapted for integration onto selected air and land systems, showcasing the versatility and innovation that EDGE brings to the defense technology landscape."
