In a significant development at ADEX (Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition) on October 18, 2023, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and Huneed Technologies formalized a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This partnership shines a spotlight on Huneed Technologies as the Korean company takes on the task of producing an advanced flat panel array for GA-ASI’s respected Lynx® and Eagle-Eye Multi-mode Radar systems.
The Lynx radar, essential for various models of GA-ASI’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems such as the MQ-9A Reaper and MQ-20 Avenger®, alongside the Eagle-Eye featured on MQ-1C Gray Eagle Extended Range (ER) and 25M models, is set to receive a technological upgrade. Huneed’s state-of-the-art flat panel array technology will be seamlessly integrated into a new common radar antenna subsystem, enhancing the capabilities of GA-ASI’s radar products.
Jaime Walters, Vice President of International Strategic Development at GA-ASI, commended Huneed Technologies, recognizing them as Korea’s leading defense and aviation company with an outstanding track record in global business relationships within the aerospace industry. He emphasized Huneed’s advanced processes and production capabilities, acknowledging their pivotal role in the global supply chain and expressing appreciation for the long-term partnership.
Huneed’s Chairman, Eugene Kim, underscored the critical role of unmanned technology in global security, emphasizing its significance in safeguarding pilots and enhancing battlefield monitoring. The partnership with GA-ASI is a testament to Huneed’s capabilities, and Kim affirmed their dedication to demonstrating excellence in their contributions.
This collaboration is not the first between Huneed Technologies and GA-ASI. Having been a long-time
partner, Huneed previously supplied Circuit Card Assemblies for GA-ASI’s line of unmanned aircraft in 2022. The partnership began with the signing of the first MOU in 2017, and in 2021, it was renewed, highlighting the enduring and evolving nature of this strategic alliance.
GA-ASI, acknowledged as a leading designer and manufacturer of proven, reliable Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) systems, radars, and electro-optic and related mission systems, has played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of intelligence-gathering and strike-capable assets. With over 1,000 unmanned aircraft delivered since its founding in 1992 and an impressive 8 million flight hours, GA-ASI continues to innovate.
The MQ-9B SkyGuardian® and SeaGuardian®, GA-ASI’s newest and most advanced aircraft, are specifically tailored to meet the multi-domain and multi-environmental needs of its customers, representing the forefront of aerospace technology.
As the aerospace industry evolves, Huneed Technologies' strategic partnership with GA-ASI at ADEX 2023 positions the company at the forefront of radar technology innovation, emphasizing their commitment to advancing global security and contributing to the ever-expanding capabilities of unmanned aircraft systems.
